World’s Oldest Woman Passed Away at Age 115

The world’s oldest living female has passed away at the age of 115, in Kawasaki City, Japan, on January 12, 2013.

According to the city official, Koto Okubo passed away at a nursing home in the city, but relatives have declined to release information on the cause of her death and family details.

Born on December 24, 1897, the supercentenarian held her title for less than a month following the death of Dina Manfredini of the United States.

The title of world’s oldest person (and also longest-lived verified man to date) goes to Jiroemon Kimura of Kyoto, who was born on April 18, 1897 and is still alive today.

The city official said Okubo had lived with one of her sons at the same nursing home.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Okubo’s family and friends.
