This time around we take a look at a list of unsolved mysteries involving aircrafts which disappeared into the blue sky, literally.
Amelia Earhart
Aviation’s greatest female legend, pilot Amelia Earhart was a role model and hero to most of us with flying ambitions. Unfortunately, in 1937, Amelia disappeared along with her twin engine monoplane Electra during an attempt to circumnavigate the world. Both Earhart and her plane disappeared over the Pacific Ocean, never found despite a multimillion dollar search effort, whereby Amelia was officially declared dead in 1939.
Flying Tiger Line Flight 739
In 1962, an American military aircraft left Guam for Philippines with over 90 personnel but unfortunately, never seemed to reach the said destination. The pilots didn’t issue a distress call and the U.S military failed to find any trace of the aircraft or the personnel.
Bermuda Triangle
Ah, the classic tales of the Bermuda Triangle never fail to send a shiver down anyone’s spine. Nicknamed the “Devil’s Triangle”, apparently tale has it no vessel can cross the ocean space between Florida, Puerto Rico and Bermuda safely.
In 1945, five American bombers ran a training mission near the Bermuda Triangle and were never found. The sad part was, they weren’t the only ones missing. The aircraft in search of the men also followed suit.
This was followed by two British South American Airways passenger jets which disappeared in 1948 and 1949 with all 51 passengers after crossing that area.
