However, sometimes fate isn't on our side and decides to cut down on one of those qualities – specifically in the height department. While we understand that some of you are a bit hesitant on dating guys that are not very tall (including this writer over here), it's time to shake off that belief.
Below are a few reasons why you should give shorter guys a chance.
More date options
If you constrict yourself to only dating guys above a certain height, then you're actually restricting your base of date options. Let's put it this way: the sea is huge, so why choose to go fishing in a pond with only tall guys when you can choose from the mass choices of gentlemen in the entire sea.
Shorter men have more confidence
When a man is willing to date a girl taller than him, it is actually a sign of his confidence. This is explained by the fact that the guy is not afraid to be upstaged by the girl. And come on now; isn't this what we all want? A guy that is not so fixated on his ego, pride and “macho-ness.” Nonetheless, do note that this is not to say that all short men have more confidence than taller men.
Any heels are A-Okay!
Unless there's a minimum 30cm height difference between you and the guy you're seeing, chances are that you'd be careful about the heels you're wearing because you wouldn't want to tower over him. With shorter guys (that are in tune with their height), one would not have to think twice about wearing beloved high heels — since you'd already be taller anyways, so what's the difference if you add in a little bit more to it.
You'd feel like a supermodel
Having a short boyfriend won't turn you into a supermodel overnight, but it will have you feeling like one. Yes, we know that this isn't actually a legit and great reason to date shorter dudes, but we're just saying that if you do, this is a bonus point.
'Perfect Gentlemen' aren't restricted by height
Let's face it, height does not determine the guy's personality and looks. A dwarf-like Orlando Bloom would still be as good-looking and charming as the current Orlando Bloom. Which is why you shouldn't get stuck on the idea that only tall guys are good looking. There are tons of shorter guys out there that have looks to kill for; you just have to start accepting them.
At the end of the day, one should realise that there is certainly nothing wrong with dating a short guy — the end game will always be whether the guy treats you right and with the proper respect. So out with the backward thinking of needing the taller males to protect us, and in with the more progressive belief that it's alright to date any type of man regardless of his height.
